FUNDRAISERS
AEP strives to hold a major fundraising event every three to four years. Our last fundraiser, a scheduled concert, had to be postponed due to Covid-19. Once it is safe to gather again, we hold to resurrect this event.
Events such as these are a great way for our donors to get together and interact; it also gives us a chance to share firsthand the progress we continue to make, as we embrace challenges.
In addition, smaller, local events involving businesses, schools, and performers are another way to engage groups and spread awareness of our organization and mission. If you would like to help us by planning a small event, please contact us through email on this site.

Community Fundraiser
Concert on the GreenLocal, summertime concerts-on-the-green are a great way to fundraise. With the permission of the performers, a message can be delivered outlining AEP's mission during an intermission, along with the "passing of the hat" for donations. AEP members can man a table with information to answer any questions and share literature and photos. It is a great way to meet new friends and engage the community!

St. Peter's After ChurchWho doesn't like food trucks? These mobile restaurants can be a nice addition to any gathering- public or private. We have used the Whey Station gourmet grilled cheese truck on several occasions- and they have generously donated a portion of their sales to AEP. Think of the possibilities, while supporting the local restaurant business!

Funds for Books
Many of our school partners in Nigeria are in desperate need of books. We are currently not collecting books as we are specifically looking for educational books. When you do an online Donations and would like it to go towards books please use the note section and specify. You can also donate to AEP when you check out on Amazon Smile.

We have collected books and materials several times in order to supply our partners with reference and literature books for the school libraries. In addition, school supplies have also been collected.

Wall Fundraiser

We were able to raise funds by "selling" cinder blocks for $25 each. This smaller amount made it convenient for many donors.

Pennies for Peace
|
Pennies for Peace started as a more "sophisticated" penny wars event at Granby Memorial High School. Different grades and classrooms challenged each other to collect the most money. Large jars were kept in classrooms and students deposited spare change within a specific time frame. The winning class received and ice cream party, courtesy of AEP. Funds For Text Books

An ambitious class at Granby Memorial High School worked with both the consumer science teacher and the art teacher to create beautiful tie-dyed shirts with a logo representing a theme of "Education is Wisdom". Proceeds from the sale of shirts were donated to AEP and used to purchase textbooks needed for the Nigerian curriculum.

Roof Fundraiser

Fundraising dinners are a great way to engage donors. AEP usually likes to have such events every three to four years. We look for a donated hall and volunteers to donate food for the event to keep our cost low. Usually, board members and local merchants cover the cost; we do not charge our attendees.

One of our bigger events- complete with dinner, speakers, and presentations. The food was donated, along with the hall.

Mother's Day Dinner Dance
|
What a fun way to get together! We sponsored a dance at a local restaurant and worked with them on a menu. A local band donated free music for the evening. Tickets were sold and an easy fundraiser came together!
