Our work in Nigeria currently takes us to Gusau, Zamfara State, and Kafanchan, Kaduna State. We work together with our partners to establish the priorities for each project. Until the Covid pandemic, we were able to make yearly trips to visit the various sites, meet with building committees, and discuss plans. Hopefully, travel will be possible in the not-so-distant future.
In order for a project to be funded, our partners provide us with a plan, a list of associated costs, and a proposed time line. After funding has been raised, installments are wired. As the funds are used, AEP receives a detailed expense report along with photos. This ensures transparency on both sides.
Factored into each project are expenses for a borehole or well and toilets. We also work to provide desks, playground equipment, and perimeter walls. The needs are great and fund raising is an ongoing challenge as we shift from project to project based on priorities.
We hope to be able to expand our work beyond our current locations as funding allows.
