Good evening. Matthew 6:21 says:
“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”.
AEP has many sources of treasure, both in kind and monetary. The in kind includes volunteer hours and expertise (for we have no paid staff), books and supplies, even a school bus. Individuals and organizations have given generously to our work: school systems, organizations like the Avon-Canton Rotary Club, the First Baptist Church of Manchester and others, and grants have come from the Episcopal dioceses of Connecticut and Ohio. Donors have options in terms of making donations to AEP. They can choose to donate to a specific project or otherwise make a donation which will go toward the general operating fund. The general operating fund covers all expenses such as communications, website, and finance or banking fees. Leftover funds, once we've covered the year of operating costs, will go to specific projects and project needs.
We're very excited about our new Friends Program that we put together. Here are some examples of your dollars at work. We have the Learner Level at $10 a month or a donation of $120 and that would provide for 2 classroom desks. If you graduate to the Honor Student level of $25 a month or $300, that can completely furnish a dorm room for 2 students. You can move along the Scholar Level at $600 or $50 a month and that can paint an entire school building. The Salutatorian Level, easier for you to say than me, is $900 or $75 a month and that can provide fixtures for a 6 stall student bathroom. And then, at least for now, our highest level is the Valedictorian Level at $1200 or more or $100 or more per month. This can provide drilling and plumbing for a well.
One of the current projects under way is furnishing the new Graceland girls dormitory. You already saw some pictures of that dormitory under construction. Here you can see that mattresses, bunk beds, lockers, and tables and chairs all need to be provided. We estimate, and I say estimate because inflation is a fact of daily life in Nigeria, but we estimated at this time that it will cost about $8500 to furnish the girls dormitory.

So this is your time- an opportunity to become a friend, to become a Learner, Honor Students Scholar, Salutatorian, or we hope a Valedictorian. This is an opportunity for you to share your treasure. You can give online at our website: www.africaep.org or send a check to Africa Education Partnership, 99 Sand Hill Road, South Windsor, Connecticut 06074. Please indicate if you'd like to designate your gift to furnishing the new girls dorm, capital projects, or our general fund. And if you seek to share in-kind donations, please contact us through the website or through a member of our board of directors. Thank you for your time, thank you for your interest, and thank you for your generous support of our partnership. God bless you.
