School Bus
Thanks to generous AEP Board Member Paul Frank, from St. Paul’s Church, Akron, Graceland International School has a new bus! This photo was sent to us by our Nigerian partner George Olatunboson, who serves as treasurer to Bishop John. Paul considered the bus a birthday present to himself and we are deeply indebted and grateful for his generosity.

Travel to the Kaduna area of Nigeria has been scheduled from July 24-August 9. Board member Elaine Chagnon will return for the third year in a row. While travel to the school site will be impossible, the plan is that the teachers will travel to her (hopefully in the new bus!).
Thanks to a grant by the Church Mission Publishing Company of $7200, AEP was able to provide a complete set of textbooks for Grace International School.
Granby teacher and Board Member Elaine Chagnon gave presentations at Kelly Lane Intermediate School, Kearns Primary School, and Granby Memorial High School on the Graceland International School project and the desperate need for text books. Titled “Change for Change”, Chagnon encouraged students to donate spare change for the purchase of text books. In Nigeria, a text book can be purchased for about $5. After having received a detailed list of the books needed for the school, Chagnon figured that about $5000 would be needed to purchase the 1000 needed text books. At Granby Memorial High School, students of the AFS Club, advised by Consumer Science teacher Deb Jacques, designed a logo and tie-dyed T-shirts for sale as part of the fundraising efforts for the above textbooks.
