The AEP Board had worked with Bishop John to create an itinerary to ensure his attendance; however, an unfortunate event in Nigeria left the bishop without his visa. Although calls and actions from Senator Chris Murphy’s office were expediently made, there was no success in obtaining a visa prior to the planned dinner.
AEP was fortunate to have Dr. Tioluwa Olokunde speak to the guests of the importance of education, especially for girls. Dr. Olokunde is a Nigerian studying a medical speciality in New York. Her moving presentation sparked conversation and emotions from the audience. In addition, Don Ghostlaw served as Master of Ceremonies and presented an overview of the project, highlighting the progress achieved to date. Board Member Elaine Chagnon shared her experiences with teacher training from the summer trip to Nigeria.Photos of the projection and those from the summer trip were on display.
Board member Barbara Hoff concluded with a call to action.
