The Kogum River well is used every day by the school and by the wider community. It is a major factor in bringing renewal to this rural community. The provision of clean water is cutting absenteeism by reducing the incidence of water-born diseases for students and the wider community. Committed to providing clean water Africa Education Partnership is committed to providing a source of clean water at all of our schools. Access to potable water has a definite and positive impact on the health and education of our students. This is particularly important for girls, who in this culture, are tasked with their mothers to collect water for domestic use. They often have to walk a distance to collect water from polluted sources and then carry heavy containers home. Having a clean source close by saves time for school work and other activities. Follow the links to read about the importance of clean water to the wider community and watch a short video of the dedication of the well. We are grateful to the Rotary Club of Avon-Simsbury, Connecticut for funding this well.
