Travel to the Kaduna area of Nigeria has been scheduled from July 24-August 9. Board member Elaine Chagnon will return for the third year in a row. While travel to the school site will be impossible, the plan is that the teachers will travel to her (hopefully in the new bus!).
Plans for teachers from Grace International School include further skill development for teaching reading, math and writing, lesson and unit planning using the state curriculum, and instructional strategies. Conflict resolution strategies using the Peace Club curriculum will also be reviewed.
Travel will be organized through FaithCare, an organization that provides free medical care to those in greatest need. FaithCare works in conjunction with Kateri Medical Services, Inc., a non-profit started by members of Trinity Church, Tariffville, Elaine’s home church. When not working on skill development with the Grace International School teachers, Elaine will work at the Kateri medical clinic.
